why i don't care about real news.

i feel like i've been on this diatribe before, but it doesn't hurt to revisit it so that i can make my point solid and clear.

dear everyone, what ranks higher on your curiosity scale?
  1. the balloon boy, whom i've had to endure on radio and passing by the tv tuned to cnn?
  2. a new, relatively safe method (as opposed to drugs or shock treatment) of reprogramming the brain via fiber optics, thus enabling us to cure all kinds of shit, like parkinson's disease?
if your choice has nothing to do with science, then you're not the kind of person i ever want to know, and i hope your obviously uninteresting life continues to be uneventful and your own ignorance is your downfall.

Reward Points: The Real Deal

bursting the bubble of "reward points" programs was never so much fun. admittedly, after racking up about $5,000 worth of credit card debt over the life of one of my cards i got.../almost/ $75 in itunes gift cards. i think i'm another $500-$600 away. good thing i pay it off every week...

this robe is dangerous.

it's getting moderately..."unwarm" around here lately. won't say cold because it's not actually cold. cold doesn't count until you can't feel your toes after being outside for longer than 60 seconds. but i digress - i didn't come here to talk about the weather.

among my cold weather clothing, i found two articles that are essential to living in a house that i refuse to heat until november. article one is a bitchin' pair of sweatpants that, from a distance, look like dark blue jeans from the late 90's. the kind that have a painter pocket and a utility loop that was once oh-so-fashionable. i used to do pt in these things, but they've since offered me a level of comfort previously unimaginable. i can slum around in the house, or attempt to be interactive with folks and still manage to slum.

article two is this retardedly soft terry-cloth robe i got from...somewhere. for some reason, i didn't remember it being this awesome, but simply wearing it feels like a warm embrace. it's even better fresh out of the dryer, too. i've prided myself on going to the laundromat, simply because it seems more cost-and-time-effective than owning a washer/dryer set. this robe alone may have the power to sway me the other way.

halloween costume has been selected. and purchased.

spent a good six hours on saturday upgrading the iphone to jailbroken 3.1. sadly, i borked the first attempt at building a custom firmware and had to downgrade to 3.0, then re-upgrade to jailbroken 3.0.1, then finalize the 3.1 upgrade again. and rebuild my music library. all in all, though, a good time. bluetooth voice control was worth it, too. made it even better by adding a new custom phone category called "with google voice" to all my contacts. now, when i initiate voice control, i can simply say "call [somebody] with google voice", and it does the trick i posted a few weeks back.

oh yeah. guess i should sleep.

CallWiki.com - Free Reverse Phone Directory

out of curiosity, i searched google for a spam call. one of the first results was this site. lots of existing numbers and comments from users about who's scamming. a few articles on how to file complaints for not paying attention to the "do not call" mandate, as well.

Admit it : When you were a child, during road trips you imagined a laser beam shooting from your eyes that would cut through the scenery outside the window.

yep. any time i was overly quiet, i pretended the car had to precariously jump from road segment to road segment; the gaps being the yellow lines. there's an insane amount of comments for people who can relate.

the previous post notwithstanding...

i'm not gonna lie - i've really been on the hip-hop tip as of late, finding myself rocking out to storytellers like atmosphere and lupe fiasco, as well as some highly experimental stuff like the new kid cudi joint. there's been a few terms thrown behind these names like "indie hip-hop" and "hipster-hop", but it seems to me like any entry in this particular game has a strong amount of say-so, and it's not just with the bloggers.

and yet, for all the underground stuff i've found thus far, i'm pretty content with jay-z's new cut, "d.o.a" for at least lyrical content.
